FINA ARENA SWIMMING WORLD CUP

The FINA Arena Swimming World Cup has started at the Kings Park Aquatic Centre in Durban and this year there is no shortage of swim stars hitting the pool .
For the first leg of the World Cup, our own Aussie Swim Star Marieke Guehrer (shown right) last years US$100,000 World Cup Overall Winner is back with her eyes set on retaining her World Champ status in the 50m butterfly. Guehrer will battle it out in the pool facing off against some tough competition including Swedish swimmers Therese Alshammar who was last year's second overall World Cup winner and Sarah Sjostrom the 100m butterfly World Champ and not to forget three time Olympian Mandy Loots.
Other Aussies Swim Stars include Sophie Edington who will hit the pool for the 100m backstroke and Ashley Delaney who will compete in the 100m and 200m backstroke.
After Africa, the World Cup moves onto Europe where Aussie swim stars Leisel Jones, Libby Trickett and Felicity Galvez will swim to win. The European leg will also see the much-anticipated return of butterflier Nick D’Arcy. Swimmers will compete at Moscow (Nov 6-7), Stockholm (Nov 10-11) and Berlin (Nov 14-15).
The final meet will be held in Singapore where our Aussie Team will certainly go out with a bang! On the final leg we will see an additional 10 Aussie Swimmers in force including Jessicah Schipper (4 times World Medallist in Rome), Emily Seebohm (short course world record holder), Christian Sprenger and Adam Pine.
So get behind your Aussie Swim stars and cheer them on. We wish them all the best at this years World Cup and will keep you updated on their results which we are sure will be awesome!!!
