One Piece Racing Swimsuit

The Phoenix Racer is a great style choice for competitive swimmers. The One Piece Racer style swimsuit has been designed to give swimmers more support with minimal coverage. The straps on the Phoenix Racer sit just under the shoulder blades for added comfort whilst swimming. The Racer style has a wide open back without taking away too much coverage from the sides. This style provides good support across the chest and back. The height of the legline compliments all body types.

Veloce X Racing Swimwear Fabric

The Phoenix Racer is made from a high tech fabric called VELOCE X. VELOCE X by Tornado Sports is an extremely lightweight high technology fabric which has been designed for speed and endurance. VELOCE X has strong water repellent properties due to the flat vertical channels in the fabric. The VELOCE X fabric is quite a durable racing fabric as it contains Xtra Life LYCRA fibres which are resistant to chlorine and other pool chemicals. The VELOCE X racing fabric has excellent flexibility and elasticity providing a great fit. VELOCE X is made from 77% Polyester / 23% Spandex, weighs 109.2 grams per square meter and is 0.47mm thick.

Xtra Life Lycra � Swimwear Fabric

The Phoenix Racer is made from Xtra Life LYCRA®. Xtra Life LYCRA® fabric is the new standard in swimwear providing chlorine resistance, excellent shape retention and fit that counters the curse of “bag and sag.” The refined fibres in Xtra Life LYCRA provide resistance to chlorine and other pool chemicals, allowing swimsuits to keep their shape 5-10 times longer than unprotected elastane. Xtra Life Lycra is incredibly comfortable and unbelievably supportive therefore providing a great fit without sacrificing anything in comfort or durability.

Semi Cut Leg

The Phoenix Racer has been designed with a Medium Cut leg height.

Bust Support Capabilities

Small built in loops are placed both sides of the Phoenix Racer which allows you to clip on specially made bra cup inserts. The bra cup inserts add support whilst swimming and can be easily clipped in or removed to dry. The bra cup feature has been specifically designed to fit the Phoenix Racer and all Tornado Sports brand swimsuits (womens only). The bra cup inserts are sold seperately, they do not come with the Phoenix Racer.

Bar Tack Reinforcement

Bar tack stitching is used to reinforce areas of stress making the Phoenix Racer strong and durable.

Small Sizing

The sizing on the Phoenix Racer runs a little small. If your dimensions and proportions are between sizes, we strongly recommend that you select the larger size.

Feel free to try on your swimsuit when you receive it, and if it doesn't fit you may exchange or return it for a different size.

A word on undersizing your racing swimsuit

Many swimmers believe that in order to swim fast, they need to buy a swimsuit that will fit very tightly on their body. However, when swimmers do this, they shorten the life of their swimsuit due to the intense pulling on the seams and the added stretch to the fabric. The competition swimsuits on Swimmer.com.au are made from high performance fabrics and have been designed for speed. Therefore, the swimsuits are already cut smaller to ensure a snug fit. We do not recommend undersizing on your competition swimwear, as this has already been taken into account. However, if your measurements place you in between two sizes please select the smaller size as the swimsuit is better to be tight as opposed to loose.

How to take your measurements

Please look at the size charts above to determine what measurements you will need to take in order to determine your size for the Phoenix Racer.

CHEST measure beginning under your arm, over the fullest part of your chest/bust and around your back to the starting point under your arm.

WAIST bend to one side to find the crease of your natural waist. Stand straight. For female suits, measure around your natural waist making sure to allow one finger between your body and the tape. For male suits, measure 1" (2.5cm) below natural waist or just above the hip bone (where you would normally wear your swimsuit).

HIPS stand straight and find the top of your hip bone. Measure around your hips making sure you keep the tape on the top of your hip bone.

TORSO place beginning of tape measure on your shoulder at your neck. Run tape measure over the fullest portion of your bust down between your legs and up your back to the starting point on your shoulder.
